No they do NOT conflict with each other. In fact they each have their own strengths and weaknesses. IE is notorious for spyware and worm vulnerability. However Firefox doesn't use "Active X" controls the same way that IE does. Some websites that have moving animations or control panels to control media, rely on "Active X" to run these applications smoothly. If you run into troubles with websites like that, simply open the same site under IE and see if that fixes your problem. Keyboard shortcuts will usually be programmed in with the browser currently being used. If FF is going to be your primary browser, you might want to go back and reprogram all your shortcut buttons.
Hope that helps. Take care.

They should work together, however there may be an issue with which is your default browser. Windows makes you choose a default and often Internet Explorer doesn't play nice and will try to overwrite your settings to be the default again.
In Windows XP there is a menu for setting the default applications in the add/remove programs section of the control panel. It is named "Set Program Access and Defaults". I wouldn't recommend disabling Internet Explorer all together since Windows Update requires it, but using this menu you can determine which one launches when you click a web site link.
Most keyboards with a Internet button will just launch the default browser selected in the menu mentioned above. However, some keyboards will have a driver application which launches programs based on a specific drive path or location. This would explain if you press an Internet button on the keyboard and it opens IE even though Firefox is set as your default.

No. If you are having problems with anything, its not caused by the fact that you have both Firefox and IE installed, you could even run both of them at the same time and browse different web sites if you wanted to just for fun!

As far as I know, no. In fact, many times I have IE, FF, and Opera all up AT THE SAME TIME ... never any problems.
