John F. Kennedy. Do you really think JFK would have invaded Iraq? No - he would have sent the troops to Afghanistan, captured or killed bin Laden and that would have taken care of that. Then, he would have made an address to the nation - and would have let the other countries (Iran, Syria) that were harboring terrorists know that if they didn't want the US troops coming to visit them, they'd better reign in the terrorists and do it quick. The man wouldn't have taken any crap from them - witness his stance during the Cuban Missle Crisis. The country and the world would be a lot better place if we had a Kennedy in office today instead of the Village Idiot.

Of the "positioned up" presidents, Carter exchange into the 1st to criticize a sitting president, Clinton exchange into the 2nd. All previous ones saved their mouths close. Carter is treasonous and Clinton remains a humiliation by way of fact of his perversion. Richard Nixon exchange into the only one after place of work to 'attempt' to do something useful along with his travels and wisdom.

I'm gonna go WAY back and say either Washington or Jefferson.

Jefferson was great at foreign relations and a strong politician. Washington was a strong leader and a high (the highest) ranking military leader.

Jefferson would have helped at the start the war, and Washington would help now.

For this particular time I would go for President Dwight D. Eisenhower. However; I believe President Bush is doing a very good job. He gets an "A" for effort. He is honest, religious and trustworthy.
