I am applying to medical school in the United States, but I plan to work in Canada afterwards. The upside is that the plan I have for work after school is an interview board's dream: I plan to work in an area with relatively low pay because it is where I grew up and I know the people well on a cultural and personal basis. I would probably be doing general care because the area is rather isolated. Bad news is: I would study here and then leave the country. What would they think of this?

I am a US citizen, born here by a fluke of circumstances. I have lived in the United states for 10 years, but all the experiences that made me who I am occurred in Canada.

No problem at all getting a license in Canada as a graduate of a US school. No problem finding Clinicals around the country either. Tons of them wanting med students to do work for free in the training hospitals. As far as getting a residency, that selection process is quite lengthy on interviews but in the end, everyone who is worthy gets a residency. Where you train is important, however, your residency location does not determine you sucess in life as a doctor. Its a long hard road ahead for you something unimaginable at your stage.

Here are some important facts about being accepted into a US state run school.

1. Residents of the state come first. Apply in your state for sure. Apply in another state if you somehow can be a citizen there and have a local address.

2. Grades like a 3.8+ are a must.

3. The MCAT is looked at less for the state schools.

4. Like Harvard and those Eastern schools, if you cannot show published research papers you are almost, and I mean almost out.

DONE AND FINISHED WITH THE STUDIES AND RESIDENCY.
