Can a website such as myspace, be ran from a virtual server? If so, what size of space would you recommend.?

ABSOLUTELY! Virtual servers are very good and can be run for most any platform. In fact, if you understand the reasons and configs of virtual servers, you will understand that this is what makes those types of server redundant.

What would I recommend? Twice what the software recommends.

If you need specifics, talk with the folks at VMware, Virtual PC, or with the linux XEN folk.
