Emmitt Smith had a total of 18355
L.T (in his 6th season) has more rushing yards than Emmitt Smith had in his 6th season. the only real diffrence is that Emmitt Smith played for 14 years, and RBs hardly can get into their 10 year let alone put up 1000+ yards in their 10th year. L.T. is a small back and they generally do not last more than 10 years in the league.

Ladanian Tomlinson has 9176 career yards rushing with 100 rushing touchdowns... 2900 yards receiving with 11 touchdowns. Hope that helps!
