I'm fourteen and really want a job. I live in Manhattan, New york City. People say babysitting, but like that doesn't work because most people who want babysitter's are like expecting nannies and ****, and I'm fourteen so that doesn't work out. Also, people talk about those survey thing's, but my dad won't let me use his credit card, and won't let me apply for my own, which suck's. So if anyone know's any ideas, or live sin New york and know's places that will accept fourteen year old's I would greatly appreciate it :)

The reason a lot of places don't hire anyone under the age of 16-18 is because of insurance and experience. You may want to try a hair salon and see if they'll let you wash and sweep up hair. Try looking for a job that won't need a whole lot of experience and responsibility. People probably don't want to hire anyone younger because they don't expect good work ethics and responsibilty.

You may have to a little more creative, but you do sound ambitious so I'm sure you can do this. Maybe you could put together a listing for people who are looking for people to do odd jobs-find other people your age who are looking for those kinds of jobs-babysittting, raking yards, walking dogs, shoveling sidewalks, taking out the trash, light cleaning, etc., then you can then compile a list and hook the people up for a slight fee-or shop for people, or do the odd jobs yourself. Good luck-I'm glad you are wanting to work-nice to hear!!

I don't live any where close to NY, but I was lookin through the ?'s that needed to be answered and I saw yours. I am almost 16 years old and I don't have a job. I want one now because I need to learn to buy things for myself instead of my parents getting things for me. But your 14 years old. You shouldnt worry about having a job, just hang out with friends and live your life as a teenager. Your not ready to take on a job yet. Trust me you have plenty of time for a job.

I don't know about N.Y. but Cali. You can get a workers permit if your grades are good and I think you can work 4 hours a day after school.. But at that age your parents may not want you to work, even if they say you can... Good Luck

My friend has worked at a Culvers since she was 13. You should try one of those or fast food. Most chains hire young people.

Have you tried walking the neighbor's dogs? There's a ton of dogs in New York City, and I'm sure your neighbors would love to find an inexpensive dog walker.

to work at a company , you need to be 16,try dog walking or small pet sitting, talk to people you know and tell them you will watch their baby when they go out to dinner or to a movie
ask your mom and dad to help you find people by asking their friends, tell them you are trying to earn your own money and be responsible

How about becoming a dog walker?
Or getting a newspaper route?
Helping out your neighbors by running errands for them?

Those internet surveys are usually scams, so you want to avoid those.
