i have a very broad question

recently i found an album online with all of the popular songs and beats that you would hear on commercials or in the background of movies but they were by one artist

any ideas who it was

if it was rock, it might have been OK Go. Their songs come out in a bunch of commercials.

was it some kind of cover / compilation album.
what kind of style was the band/artist.
