You mean sin(3pi/4)
it lies in second quadrant where sine is having a positive value
hence its value is
sin(pi-pi/4)=sin(pi/4)=
1/sqrt(2)

Assuming π=3.14 (though actually π is not exactly equal to 3.14)
sin 3*3.14/4 = sin(3π/4)
=sin(π - π/4)
Now,because sin(π- A)=sinA
therefore,we have :
sin(π-π/4)=sin(π/4) (Note that there is no negative sign as sinA is positive when A lies in the first or second quadrant )
Therefore,
sin(π/4)= 1/√2 =1.414(approximately) ,
which is your required answer.
