I was Mayor of a small town in Mississippi and was one of the last 3 Mayors to ever be allowed to also serve at the same time as the Municipal Judge in the St of MS. Also the first and only female to serve this office here.
I liked the job, I wanted to give something back to the community and I accomplished a few things for which I am proud to have been part of. It gives a person more insight of how the towns are run, how you have to handle the funding of such small town American. You just have to make a decison and be sure it is first the law, fair to all, and not make exceptions but apply it to all.
I think everyone should at some time go to town meetings, serve on committees, and take some civic duty ....be a part of your town.

A good friend of mine is a small town mayor in Alabama.
She was a devastatingly attractive redhead when she first got the job, but the burdens of office have weighed on her terribly. Bags under her eyes, weight gain, and finally...her hair went gray. I was her friend, and I had some latitude that others didn't. I begged her not to run again; the office was aging her.

Finally the voters did her a favor in November and elected someone else. They'd seen what I'd been trying to tell her for years. The new guy takes office this month.

The old gray mayor just ain't what she used to be...

um im not a mayor, but my nieghbor is! Its kind of like president acept for ur little community.Whe nthere is a fight (President words: WAR) the mayor helps. If a restuarunt goes bad or a store ( President:starvation) the mayor finds ways to prevent this. He makes sure everything is in place. He decides weather to keep this or leave that. he makes buildings. He has to care.
