I agree with your point, but does the fact that you don't know when the messiah is coming stop you from acting in accordance with his law so that when he does come you will be saved? Yea Iraq is a messy situation and the end is not in sight but that doesn't negate the fact that if Iraq does become a stable democracy it will help the region and give us a valuable ally in the Middle East.

Uh, the Turks occupied that part of the world for 1000 years as I recall.
It is possible to be a successful long-term occupational force. It is NOT possible if you don't wish to occasionally resort to terror, torture, disappearances, etc.
Like the former Yugoslavia, you have 2 or more human "Teutonic Plates" that converged at that point. Until they decide that they want to live next to one another, there will be problems.

No. Since we are there..... Iraq should be called a victory when it is as safe as a big city in America. The problem is it was safer than any of our cities before we got there. Now it is like Compton.

A good analogy would be what happened to soviet union,when they were fighting Mujahedeen in Afghaestan.If America is ready to keep fighting Islam for 500 years,its agood policy to stay the course.They are in for a war of attrition I guess.

You got it!!! and we have to remember that this is a war on terrorism---where ever it is, so Iraq won't be the end of it if we get a new President that is as committed to making the world a safer place for us and for future generations as President Bush is.
