"women does 98% of work in bearing the child, so yes, she has the right to decide on contraception & abortion."

Then why is additional income required to bring up the child? Men are responsible for paying child support at great cost to themselves. That is at least 50%.

These two statements apply 100% to men and 0% to women. You guys seem to have missed the point. The 14th Amendment requires equal protection under the law and feminists claim to be about equality, yet this is the situation.

"* The woman has the right to claim child support regardless of whether the child was a result of her committing rape."

Female statutory rape of minors in their care is an increasing crime. In one of the links above, a court ruled that a boy statutorily raped by his babysitter should be liable for child support.

and littleviv you have no idea how ridiculous it seems to me that a feminist can claim to be about equality. All of the above rights were put in place as a result of feminists who all claimed to be "true feminists" and who all claimed to be "about equality", including some that said "sure there are radicals, but they aren't like that". So you're going to have to excuse me if anyone claiming to be a feminist has zero credibility when making such claims, especially when they KNOW a consequence of giving them credibility will be giving credibility to the overwhelming majority who in no way act in accordance with a desire for equality.

All of these "rights" for women lead to men being forced into the being a slave according to the letter of the law. Naturally feminists think this is equality.

baba yaga: you are basically saying that men should have to undergo genital mutilation in order to have any rights at all. Great stuff. Seeing as a male can father children from the age of 12 are you suggesting that they get a vasectomy at 11, or at any time up until 21 when they haven't even stopped growing yet.

You really should be ashamed of yourself for thinking this is a substitute for proper reproductive rights.

2007-01-15 17:34:18 · update #8

Wenders your argument boils down to women should have the "right" to practice unsafe and irresponsible sex and then "opt out" when the inevitable happens - BUT NOT MEN. Then claim equality. In your face fallacious argument.

A woman pregnant with a child has multiple options (as explained), abortion is NOT the only solution (blatant false dichotmomy), waiving of the man's parental responsibilites or putting the child up for adoption are other alternatives, so again fallacious argument.

Read my sources again, evidence is provided in the third one down, it says 'rape case'. What a baseless accusation that I provided no source.

You are arguing that a woman who can kill an unborn child or abandon it is taking full responsibility. That is ridiculous far beyond the point of being pathetic.

Your answer is utter garbage, logic is not applied in the slightest along with a bunch of baseless accusations. Hardly any effort needed to rip it to shreds. You're floundering like a blowfish.

misanthropic blahblah: How about because the overwhelming majority of supporters of the feminist hate movement claim to be about equality but don't act in accordance in the slightest, leading me to believe it is a hate movement under the guise of equality.

The USA despises us men. In the USA men are slaves. The women have done it to themselves here. Fewer and fewer men want to marry, preferring endless anonymous sex with sluts and the women walk around muttering under their breaths why guys won't commit. It is all a sad sick joke. But it is what women wanted. ALL THE CONTROL.

I have given up and will move to another country soon that actually still has rights for men and still considers men worthy of rights.

This is a circular argument, Happy. So let's state it another way. You are arguing that men should have the "right" to practice unsafe and irresponsible sex and then "opt out" when the inevitable happens? Remember, there can be no rights without responsibility. (You said that, didn't you?) And to say that women have NO responsibility is ridiculous. As I've stated before, women, by the very nature of their biology, WILL be responsible, whether they keep it, decide to abort, etc. They ARE responsible in the event of pregnancy, (how can you argue otherwise?) whatever they decide. And men should be, as well. You can't force a woman who falls pregnant (because of equal "neglect" on the part of both parties) to have an abortion if her religious views are against it...that is violating her protection under the first amendment. So the courts must then decide if the man is also culpable (as she surely would be, for the rest of her life, unless she chooses adoption, and then this whole argument is moot, right?). To say that YOU should not be held responsible for your negligence (didn't take precautions) because the other person was negligent also, is ludicrous. You are BOTH responsible. The point is that anyone who is negligent will be deemed culpable for that negligence in a court of law. This has nothing to do with "feminist" law. This is basic law, and any other case (car accident, wet floor in a shopping mall) can be applied, as well. Again, I will repeat for the particularly slow...women, by the very biology of pregnancy, will be culpable, and therefore responsible. It is only fair (legally and morally) that men also be responsible for their negligence. How hard is it? TAKE PRECAUTIONS (!!!), instead of putting your rights and responsibilities in the hands of someone else, and then being upset when the outcome is less than desirable.
As for the "presumed paternity" law which makes a man responsible for the children of his wife, despite true paternity, that is actually an old law, and should be changed. There are some feminists that support this law, presumably to see that "intact" families remain intact, but I don't agree with this, This is an obvious violation of the rights of the man and the rights of the child (to know his real father). And I would certainly support any legislation that seeks to ban it. It IS unfair, you will have no other arument from me on that.
And claiming child support from an underage victim is more egregious still. However, do predators (because that's what they are) REALLY have the "right" to claim child support from their victims? Please provide evidence of this (as you have been caught out in your lies so many times before).
And please don't falsely accuse me of lying this time and close out the question early so that I can't defend myself. It shows extreme cowardice. And shows that I obviously trounced you. (Again.)

This part isn't directed at me, but I feel the need to jump in and say something. What kind of dumb **** are you? If someone is claiming to be a feminist and their actions are obviously counter to the feminist ideal of equality, how can you still think they are feminist, or even use them to say that feminism/feminists are bad? Or is that what your whole deal is, you are trying to undermine feminists/feminism and women? What is your whole point in all this? Do you have a point, besides spreading your hate for all things dickless?

2007-01-16 11:18:03 · answer #3 · answered by Anonymous · 1 1

all of the laws you talk about have been around for such a short time historically. prior to that women had no right to abort at all ever and if raped they had no choice but to bear the child and then either surrender it for adoption or to raise it many women suicided rather than spend nine months carrying the child of their rapist and this still happens today in cultures where abortion is not acceptable. for centuries women in western society, and I will limit my comments to this group of women for now for simplicity, had no choices in many areas of their lives.

it is true that todays ways and laws are imperfect however they are the laws we have and to create perfect laws that cover every conceivable situation is nearly impossible.

I personally have known men who have a whole series of children to a whole series of women and walk away time and again from their responsibilities.

Here in Australia the child support laws apply equally to mothers as to fathers. I personally pay child support to my sons father for my son who moved in with his dad a few years ago.

Child support is worked out on a percentage of the gross wage of the paying parent. one child is 28% two is 30% three or more is 32% or something like that.

In Australia a woman can not receive the supporting parents payment from the government unless she names the father of the child. She can not simply claim to not know. She has to give them a name or a few names. this leads to problems such as men paying for child support of children that are not theirs and this is a problem that needs to be resolved.

Archaic laws in this country do state that a child born within a marriage is a child of the marriage this applies even if the child is not the husbands and this too is unfair and needs to be addressed.

But just as unfair is the child support law that says a child born after the break down of a marriage is NOT a child of the marriage. I had this situation happen where my son was born after my marriage broke down even though I became pregnant during the marriage. I had to produce my sons birth certificate to prove paternity even though we were still legally married. His father had the option to request dna proof as well but thankfully he didnt go to that extreme, though he is welcome to do so for each of our children as I know he is the ONLY possibility.

Women who choose to fall pregnant by not using contraception are not all trying to trap a man into paying child support. Some women genuinely believe they can not conceive and do anyway some women simply do not think about contraception because they were not planing on a sexual encounter.

If a man wants to have sex with a woman then he runs the risk of becoming a father just as she runs the risk of becoming a mother. If a man chooses to not use contraception then he is just as responsible for the resultant child and should contribute to the welfare of the child.

I do agree with you that a boy or man who is raped by a girl or woman should not be held financially responsible for the resultant child. But I also think that a girl or woman raped by a man or boy should not be held financially responsible for the resultant child.

I am neither feminist nor masculinist. I simply try to see things from a fair point of view with a dash of common sense..

*Contraception - similar although condoms have a 16% failure rate (child in ~4 years).

Where's your proof to support that claim? Everything I've seen ranges from 2% to 14%.

* Women have had a right to opt out of parenthood since 1973 by abortion.

I believe that women should have that option in the first trimester. Men should be able to decide if they want to be responsible for a child(still thinking on the issue of what should be done with a man that fathers a large amount of children with a large amount of women)

* The woman has 72hrs - 45 days (depending on state) to LEGALLY abandon her child.

If the father of the child abandons her(or she rightly fears that he will), she should have the right to do such.

* The woman has the right to lie about contraception or fertility with no legal consequences.

When a man lies about his fertility, the woman pays physically. If the man can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that she lied to him about her fertility/taking BC, then he should be able to opt out.

* The woman has the right to claim child support regardless of whether the child was a result of her committing rape.

I don't understand what you mean by this.

* The woman has the right to claim her husband is the father regardless of whether DNA tests prove otherwise.

How do you mean by "claim as the father"? I believe it should be up to the man. If he finds out that the child isn't biologically his, he should be able to choose if he will still continue in the role of father or not.

*This is a feminist idea of equality in rights and responsibility?

No, it's not. As I said in another answer to you, if anyone claims to be a "feminist" and yet are supporting the lowering of rights of the males, then they aren't a true feminist.

This may be colored by a flaw in my perception, but I am going to say that if you are going to fight these injustices, it is better to do it without so much bitterness and hate against what you wrongly think of as "feminism" and its products. These issues that you listed are NOT part of any true feminist doctrine that I know of, so please quit trying to make true feminism out to be an evil thing.

What gives feminism no credibility is the people that can't seem to seperate those that claim to be feminists when they obviously aren't from those that truly are feminists. Get over yourself. If you've been burned, sorry, but it wasn't me that did it(or even the vast majority of women out there), so get over it and quit taking it out on those that aren't guilty of hurting you. Get over the hate and work to fix what is wrong, and quit trying to pawn it off on those that aren't responsible for it.

quality condoms do have a 2% failure rate.

women does 98% of work in bearing the child, so yes, she has the right to decide on contraception & abortion.

I am pretty sure if the mom wants to abandon the kid, the dad can keep him (it will prolly require divorce tho)

I do not think that did happen often enough to justify the legislation of child support tho.

And I am pretty sure DNA evidence is enough grounds for divorce and no child support.

Face it, pro-feminists, you need a new platform.

The "Feminist Movement" in this country is as absurd a bunch of neo-nazi radical thinking bigots as they come. They do not promote "gender equality"; they promote the advancement of women and the suppression/oppression of men. It is penis envy wrapped in a "Noble Garment of Righteousness"

....and this is why our children don't even know if they are little boys or little girls once they are subjected to the public education system that now, thanks to the feminist's "equality" movement promote "gender neutrality education" for our innocent little children. The maturity of the American population is what is responsible for the hardships in all social situations. The lack of maturity and a very bad education system don't prepare the American youth for life's responsibilities. If you don't screw around then you won't have any worries, and if you do then you have the responsibilities for your actions.

Here are your reproductive rights:

1). Keep your pecker in your pants

2). Wear a condom; if you are completely paranoid about it (and I think you ARE) then WEAR SEVERAL CONDOMS all at the SAME TIME.

3). Get a vasectomy:

A quick "snip-snip" and it's over. They're EVEN REVERSIBLE. It's done right at the doctor's office: One-Stop Shopping for the Horny Guy on the Go!
