The ONE book?

It would have to be an unabridged dictionary.

All other books come from there!

Now if you want to discuss what books I live better for having read...that list would be much, much longer.

VERY difficult! On a purely practical, Robinson Crusoe level, I wouldn't want to be without my Reader's Digest How To Do Just About Anything.

However, assuming I could have one book just for literary satisfaction, I'd probably choose A Civil Campaign by Lois McMaster Bujold. It's a science fiction story, a love story and a comedy of manners all rolled into one. Not only that, the book reminds me of a good many of her other books, so I could replay those books in my mind when I wasn't actually reading.

(-: Thank goodness, I'll probably never be in such a cruel, cruel situation where I have to choose just one!

The Norton Anthology of Literary Criticism.
I always find new things to learn within it...

Either that or the Riverside Complete Shakespeare...

None, but if I had to choose it would be a tie between Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury or Jitterbug perfume by Tom Robbins.

The Bible!
I study it in-depth because a lot of its prophecies relate to the times we're living in today. It gives good advice and has good principles dealing with all aspects of life. And it talks about God's kingdom and his purpose for mankind.
