First 2 answers were great. I do agree weight can be a controlled situation, but to me a prejudice can be one person not liking someone for they way they are, and isn't limited to sex, race etc.

On Yahoo answers it is amazing to me how ugly people can be when answering questions about obese people. I am guilty myself.... many many moons ago (LOL) when I was young/dumb I used to whisper to my boyfriend "if I ever get that big, shoot me and put my out of my missery". That was just terrible!! As an adult I view things so differently, suppose I have grown as a person, which is a good thing. I was/am never rude to any person who is obese. Just shocked at how I was when young, and now what I see as an adult!! And for those that think I am obese, I am not.

Racial minorities are catered to constantly in modern day America. Obese people are discriminated against much more.

I would guess there is more prejudice against obese people than folks of a different race. If only because everyone has an equal opportunity, race isn't an issue.

It's a close call, but I think there is more prejudice towards minority races, your race is something that goes with you everywhere, and that you can't change, if your black your black, if your hispanic your'e hispanic, it can't change that's who you are, weight can be controlled.... by losing 20, 30, 40 pounds you can change your who life including how people treat you. But on the otherhand, what about those who can't lose the weight, those that have gained to much weight to lose, those who can't afford the pricey lipsuction... for those people weight becomes a prison.. something they can't escape ... it becomes their idenity. So in a way they are no different than the minority races.. i'm guess i'm kind of contradicting my original statement,, but i like this question.. it really made me think.Interpet my answer however you like, Hope I helped... somewhat!:-)

I really think that it's only a very small percentage of people who are racist that are making it look bad for everyone. The majority of people are normal like you and me. Obesity in this country is a big problem! People that are obese are buffering themselves from the world. My hope for all obese people is that they find another coping mechanism that is more healthy!

I've always been more "chunky" .. not like morbidly obese but never the skinniest girl in my group of friends, and I've never felt like i've been prejudiced against until I've gotten older and when I'm out with my more attractive friends.. I realize how much more they get by being more attractive and its irratating.

We are still prejudice against minorities..

obese peolpe...this, sadly, is the last "safe" prejudice. I think most minority races have been talked about enough, everyone knows its not cool to put them down. Not so with heavy people

minority people are more discriminated against than obese people. At least obese people are able to do something about their weight problem, whereas a minority cannot help what skin color they have or what nationality they are. We must accept how God has made us.

I'm not prejudiced against obese people, I just tend to look down on people who abuse their bodies and seek pity for it.

Don't lump racial prejudice in with disdain people feel towards fat people. They are completely different.
