I do it all the time if it's a good answer. I just know how good it feels to get a thumbs-up myself, so I try to make other people happy too :-)

That probably sounds kind of juvenile. Oh well...

Just wondering...

When you or someone you like does something right, a thumbs-up is appropriate. It is a way of saying "okay" or better, or it can be an acknowledgement to a query. Most of the time it should be a response, although it could be used as a question.

Nothing juvenile about a positive attitude or positive reinforcement. I'm giving your question a thumbs-up.

As a Walt Disney World cast member I use all types of communication - verbal and nonverbal. I've noticed though that at my work location we use a great more non-verbal (hand signals) to communicate and get messages back and forth. It is not meant to be rude. It is just a much to make eye contact with the person on the other side of the counter and make a hand gesture than it is to attempt to raise our voices over the noise of the location, guest, and theme park (itself).

Walking passed each other, make eye contact, and giving a thumbs up without missing a stride in our step is our way of telling each other that we are doing such wonderful and good jobs.

As I have rarely had to use this form of communication before I find it to be really fun.

I always give a thumbs up when I agree with the answer or think it is funny. I also give thumbs up when people put questioners in their place when they ask racial or hate-directed questions.

Whenever it is a good answer or question. I never give thumbs down though....unless the answer/question is completely out of line and rude.

I like to give a thumbs up for in-depth, thoughtful or funny answers. I especially like to do it when the answering is closed and you can't vote.

I also give thumbs down to offensive, rude or unhelpful answers.

Always. Unless they are rude or vulgar insults then I give thumbs down and have even been known to report a few. There I said it. LOL

I generally give thumbs-up to good questions more than answers.

I give thumbs up with alacrity...I know that it may create a warm and fuzzy for some and it is almost like giving someone a pat on the back for a job well done.

Thumbs Up to you!
