Mine sleeps with her face smashed into a soft stuffed bunny. The doc said as long as she can roll, she is fine. That seems to be her preferred method of going to sleep, so I let her. She started this around 6 months and has been doing it ever since. I even bought back-up bunnies, in case we lost the one we have.

My 3 month old sleeps with her blanket over her face all of the time. Its the blanket that never leaves her sight. I was worried at first but her doctor told me that shes old enough now to move it if she can't breathe. Shes been fine for 2 months like this. Good luck.

By the age of 1 I could no longer take my sons huggy blanket away from him in his sleep because he would wake up. If your baby is old enough to sit up, I would not worry too much, maybe try getting a blanket that you can put up to your face and breath through....

My son is 5 months and has been sleeping with a blanket against his face for just over a month,i asked my pediatritian about this and him smothering himself and she said at his age(when he was 4 months) they have the reflex to pull it away or wake up if it covers his mouth and cannot breathe,i let him sleep with it every night it helps him fall asleep.I would still check with your doctor just to be sure.

I think any parent needs to sleep in the situation that makes them feel the most comfortable! My 13 month old old has had a combination of co-sleeping and being in his own crib. We always just reevaluate the situation to make sure that we are all getting the proper sleep needed to have a happy healthy day! He had gotten to a point that he wasn't sleeping restfully in our bed, however when he gets a little cold, he sleeps much better with us. We are just open to doing whatever method helps us all sleep the best!

My baby does the same.... I've given up on removing the blanket.
As long as I know she can breath, I let her be..... I stopped worrying too much once she was able to lift her head and change positions easily. I also make sure there is cool, fresh air circulating in the room.

You always have to be worried about a blanket or pillow causing them problems----but if he is old enough to manuever his head and adjust his sleeping position (he rolls from his back to side to stomach while asleep) don't panic. If it bothers him, he will turn away from it. But, you are correct in taking it away after he falls asleep.

you shouldnt have to worry to much after 6 months but you still do all in all my fave kind of blanket to use when my son was a baby was an afghan cause it has the holes in the blanket and would be harder for them to suffocate in the blanket but you still have to worry all moms do
