Quite a selection here, but I strongly recommend "Visitors" by Bob Chapman. It will make you laugh, cry and will keep you going to the very last page. it's on Amazon

SCIENCE FICTION Everyone ignores sci-fi however actually that a few books are practically part philosophy. Read Stranger in a Strange Land by means of Robert A. Heinlein, Prey by means of Michael Crichton, and 2001: A Space Odyssey or Rendevous With Rama by means of Arthur C. Clarke. Plus, I agree that Agatha Christie is a need to-learn. After Shakespeare and the Bible, she has bought essentially the most quantity of books international ever. Her great are And Then There Were None, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, Murder at the Orient Express

Anything by Clive Barker or Steven King. If you like Ann Rice, you'll love these guys!

David Eddings' Belgariad and Mallorian series. Battles, magic, humor and wonderful characters.
Mists of Avalon and Lady of Avalon by Marrion Zimmer Bradly
The Earth Children's Series by Jane Auel
The Doomsday Book by Connie Willis
These four all have STRONG female Characters

If you like Anne Rice, you might try Rosemary's Baby by Ira Levin or The Omen by David Seltzer, both are well writen novels dealing with demonic children, just like the Claudia story line in Interview with a Vampire.

I really liked Saving Fish from Drowning by Amy Tan (author or the Joy Luck Club). Light on Snow by Anita Shreve, Ya Ya sisterhhod by Rebecca Wells, and anything by Dean Koontz for creepy, supernatural books.

"Raise High the Roof Beam Carpenters and Seymour" by JD Salinger. Then try "The Catcher in the Rye". Ibid. (same author). Sounds nerdy but it's not. This is from a guy that has personally met Madame Rice in New Orleans. Peace.

My favorite book is called House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski.

It's unlike any book I've ever read. It has several stories embedded in the main plot. Each page is different as well. Some pages have upside down font, and there are other visual effects with the fonts as well. It's definately a page turner.

I recommand that you read the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series by Laurell K. Hamilton. The series is great. Since the first day that I checked the first book out I have yet to be able to put the books down - that is until the last two (but they were still good). Still I recommand reading the series and coming to your own conclusions about it.
