I have an oil lamp that I bought at an auction Saturday night and it was working great. The oil was flowing and it appeared flawless. Now of course that I have it home, it will not rain the oil. I have put some oil in it, however, it is not raining.

I wondered just how long it takes once you power on the unit, does it start raining the oil. The motor in the bottom is working or at least I hear it. I just wondered how long it takes to get this thing going, or is it broken??

Used to own one. I answered your other question also. It would usually start to rain within 10 seconds.

I don't own one of these, but I used to work in a store that sold many different models, and a working example of each model was on display, and one of my duties was to take care of them.
The "rain" used to begin almost immediately once they were switched on. If you aren't getting "rain" then something has gone wrong - plugged oil channels, not enough oil, etc. If I remember correctly we used mineral oil to fill the lamps.

My Great Grandmother used to have one when I was a child. From memory, check to make sure there is enough and not too much oil in it. Good luck.

I used to have one, and it always started within just a few minutes (less than 5) of being turned on.
