I want to make this for my boyfriend on our anniv. thats coming up. Since I call him "bear". Can anyone help me out on what to get and how to make this?? I would appreciate it.

If you want to use polymer clay rather than ceramic clay (that needs to be fired in a kiln at a very high temperature), that's definitely one good way to make a bear. (Polymer clay is "baked" in a home oven at about 275 degrees F for about 15-45 min in most cases... some of the brands you can find at craft stores are Premo, Fimo, Sculpey, and Kato Polyclay.)

You don't mention what size you want to make the bear though. Polymer clay can be up to about 1 1/4" thick and still be okay solid, but if the thickest area would be thicker than that, you'd need to make that part with an "armature" underneath... could be anything bakable-- tightly-scrunched aluminum foil is one that's often used.
