In the world of art and collectibles, provenance, or the documented history of an item is what makes it valuable. What someone says, by itself, counts for nothing. So, what documented proof do you have that it's not just any elephant? Are there markings on the base that prove it's from Iraq? Are there any marks or paperwork that proves it belonged to Saddam? If not, the only value is what an ordinary elephant would be from a street vendor. The other issue is how you came to have it. Was it stolen and then smuggled out of Iraq? If you acquired it legally, do you have paperwork to prove that? Bottom line is that if it was smuggled out of Iraq and you sell it as having belonged to Saddam, you're putting yourself in danger of being charged with selling stolen goods. If you can't prove it belonged to Saddam, then it only has the value of any other item of its kind from Iraq. This being said, if it is beautiful and well made, it could bring a very good price based on that alone.

It belongs to the people of Iraq, drop it off to your local Museum so it can be returned.

if it's a real elephant you're gonna get in trouble.......if it's some type of statue then i would say it's worth a good bit.......find a few antique dealers and see what they say.....
