I've had 3 miscarriages and there was always something wrong with the pregnancy that had nothing to do with external things. Just relax. If it's meant to be, it will be.

As far as I'm aware, having an abortion does not increase the risk for a miscarriage in future pregnancies (though I'm not well read on this so I could be wrong) so you shouldn't worry too much about it. In fact, worrying could be a bad thing to do. Stress can effect pregnancies, especially at the beginning. Also, don't worry about the caffeine that was in your system up to the time you found out you were pregnant. At such an early stage it's really unlikely to have had any effect at all.

Anyway, you seem to know the basics. Stay away from caffeine, smoking, alcohol, etc. You might want to talk to your doctor and tell him/her about your concern for a healthy pregnancy. I'm sure that he or she will be able to give you some guidelines to follow. Also, ask if your doctor could recommend a nutritionist that can help you make sure you're getting the nutrients your body will need.

Good luck!

I had my first baby at 15. I was so sick since I was much to young. I have never had an abortion. I had to do so many things to stay healthy. I thought I was going to turn into a orange from eating/drinking to get the FOLIC ACID. Take your prenatal vitamins religiously. Drink a lot of water to say hydrated. Start taking a calcium tablet or try to down the milk daily. Pregnancy is hard on your teeth,so brush 4x's instead of three. No rigorous activity. Walk to stay fit. Never miss a doctor visit. Prenatal care is vital to mom and baby. Try not to over eat. If you are put on bedrest-do it!
I have suffered two miscarriages at 11wks 2 days & 12wks 4 days. You can't stop it. It isn't your fault. If I were I would get some therapy for the previous baby that was taken from you. It will ease your stress. A calm mom-2-B makes a happy baby.
I wish you the greatest luck in the world. Congrats!

First...take a deep breath! I think you're OK on the caffeine; I was taking Excedrin Migraine which has lots of caffeine, and I stopped as soon as I found out I was pregnant. My doctor said it probably didn't do any harm.

If you can get your hands on the book "What to Expect When You're Expecting", I think you can find a lot of answers there. It even talks about having previous abortions and what risks may be involved.

Of course be careful with whatever medications you take; basically you can't take anything but Tylenol. No tobacco or alcohol. Take prenatal vitamins if you aren't already. See an OB/GYN at about 10 weeks and they can give you lots more information. But for now try not to stress, eat right, and get plenty of rest.

God bless!
