Stretch some at the end, and keep moving for a while. The soreness comes from a buildup of lactic acid. You have to work it out, and as you get more used to practice, your muscles will hurt less and less.

Warm up before cheerleading and take time for some stretching afterwards. If sore muscles persist - take two tylenol before bedtime. One thing I suggest though - altho you practice your cheers during the week, you may need to workout at a gym or at home to build more strength - if you dont belong to a gym there are lots of good videos at Target, Best Buy or Walmart that are affordable. If you belong to a gym, talk to a trainer to see what exercises/weight training would be best.

I cant believe what some people on here are saying ... Cheerleading can be very difficult and it doesnt matter how in shape you are.
My tips are stretch before practice... and a cheerleaders best friend is rub A 5 35. A hot bath or shower helps too.

Stretching helps a lot. I also read recently that caffeine reduces pain after a workout. Try drinking some green tea. It is very good for you, and might help keep you from gettting as sore.
