there's a very fine-too-thin-than-spitting-
hair-into-7-strands line between our universe
and other paralel universe..
there's a proven thoery that light does not fall evenly.
eg : light on a smooth wall
under microscopic macro lenses, you will see that it will evenly placed itself in a pattern similar to a zebra crossing. one line of light, one line blank, one line of light and so forth...
what causes this? it's still theorectical but there are no indications why should it make such patterns ( the flat surface proves the theory clearly vs textured surface but nontheless...)
therefore, the theory of paralel universe is almost to the point of accuracy plus the other paranormal activities going around the world and people like david blain and criss angel....
yeah! you're probably looking at yourself in another universe (hey, we all look different in different mirrors right?)

Actually, there is no person staring back. Just light rays bouncing off the reflective surface behind the layer of glass.

I don't think so.. Unless there is a weird formula to explain that. When you look in the mirror you see your reflection because. Light reflects of the surface and projects it back to you. Then your eyes catch that light and you see yourself...

Only if you are from another universe and actually you sound like you could be. For you I'd have to say maybe.

Yes. You can tell because when Leonard Nimoy looks in the mirror, his reflection has a goatee.

I think your friend is in needing counseling
Do you think it is drink or drugs that is his problem.
Possibly you should be having a serious look at your choice of friends.

Your friend is incorrect - but quite imaginative.
The answer is no. Your reflection is your reflection. If it was an alternate 'you', why can't you carry on an intelligent converstion with it?
