Why won't my computer background show?

I'm using Windows XP and I used to be able to see my background but recently i just wasn't able to see it. I could only see solid colors now and I can't change it because it won't let me. I can only see my background rght before i log off. Can anyone help me out?

Reinstall your Video Card drivers, as well as your Monitor drivers.
It is either a Driver issue, or a setting issue... the setting being what is selected as your desktop ( could be a correct File there) however I am guessing it is the drivers
