I'm 17 weeks pregnant and I have such a bad sore throat that it hurts to turn my head even. I called the pharmacy and they said it was ok to take cepacol in moderation. I have one now but it's not really helping. Is there anything else I can do to help get rid of it? I have a dr appoitment wednesday.

Congratulations! It is a wonderful experience - giving birth to a child. And that is all the more reason why you should be very careful. I would suggest that you avoid any sort of medication unless it is absolutely essential. As for your sore throat - Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience. Gargle with salt water, warm tea with honey, Ice cream, Sometimes hard candies can sooth your throat. Being that your pregnant you should go to a doctor as soon as possible.. If it's not possible, Then watch out for a fever

Good Luck!

When I had same the doctor, besides giving me a medication for it, said to gargle with salt water. It really worked; right away I had some relief. Hope you feel better soon.

I would go to an ER or urgent care facility. I had the same thing and had Strep Throat. I took care of it but being pregnant it can cause Scarlet Fever and really hurt you. Please see a doctor now. Good luck

*Tea (caffinated limit of three)
*"Herbal" tea from the grocery store (not any kind that claims health benefits)
*Apple Cider
*Ginger Tea
*Garlic Tea
*Warm Milk
*Add Honey to any of the above
*Soup
*Add cayenne to any of the above, it really works even though you think it won't
*Garge with salt water.
