I have been on the pill for about 3 years now. Almost 2 years ago, I slowly stopped having my period, and a year ago, it turned to having very slight brown spotting to almost nothing at all. This past month, I stopped taking the pill for about a week to see if I would have my period. Nothing. So I went back on it. I had intercourse right around the time I stopped taking it. I took a couple pregnancy tests to make sure it was fine. Nothing showed up. A couple days ago I began getting cramps severely (which doesnt happen on the pill) and started my period pretty heavily. It hasnt been like that for a couple of years. I was very sick all day. Then today the cramps continued and the blood was very heavy. It was very strangely colored, a bright red and it was as if it were large blod clots mixed with tissue. Could I possibly had a miscarriage or is it just heavy because I havent had an actual period in a couple of years?

This same thing happened to me but i had very heavy clotty periods for six weeks straight and the cause of mine was having been on birth control for over two years and not having a period during that whole time. I would definitely go to the doctor though because they can give you some medicine to make sure that you are completely shedding the lining of your uterus. Because it can build right back up and the same thing could happen again for your next period.

you mixed up you hormones when you stopped taking them during that week. you didnt get your period because the hormone levels from the pills were still high. even though you started taking the pill again you hormones dropped which is why you are now getting a period. when getting off the pill you period will usually be heavier the first 2 months. I dont think you had a miscarriage. you shouldnt miss with your pill anymore unless you want to get pregnant.

I had a miscarriage, after which a youngster no longer lengthy after, then one more miscarriage. Considering I was once advised I'd on no account get pregnant, I regarded that one a blessing. Two years later I cross pregnant once more, and we had fun and idea we would on no account get pregnant once more. Then #three was once born 18 months after #two...WOW! Then #four was once 15 months after #three, then 18 months later #five....we began pondering it was once a few sort of cosmic shaggy dog story! #6 was once born 2 years after #five, and quantity seven (we name her seven of 7) was once born 2 years after #6. My SIL additionally confronted a number of miscarriages, 4 or 5 I consider, she stopped telling us after a at the same time. She received pregnant approximately ten years in the past even though, after which popped out FIVE in ten years. So we are each relatively cheerful with our little advantages. I'm sorry to your loss, I do not know what else to inform you besides to maintain your hopes up. I on no account idea I'd be so blessed, and I recall the ones days of dread, each and every month of praying. We had been whole nuts for the period of our pregnancies, chiefly considering the fact that all of our miscarriages had been after 12 weeks...some distance into the trimester of 'protection'.

It could be, or it could be your body getting used to not being on the pill. Your best bet is to see a doctor and ask them. No one can really tell you the right answer, because it can be more then one thing.
