Teachers can contribute to a students success by teaching them how to be accountable for their actions (homework, etc...), teaching them to be proactive (giving points for participation), and providing them a introspective framework that would allow them to gain insight on what they want to do with there life in the long term (that is never easy when high schoolers know it all).
Success is individually measured. Not all that go to college will graduate. Teaching kids to think critically and be insightful as to what they would like to do with their life can shape how successful they are and help them avoid wasting time and money.

Right, teachers plays a vital role in the education but students must contribute to education. above all the most contribution must be given by the parents. Teachers job is to teach, students job is to study well but all the above parents are there to boost up the students to study what they are taught by the teachers. Thus if there is teacher students is there, if students are there then teacher are also be there. thats what both teacher and students got to be contribute equally. But most of the educations are contributed at home only.

Giving the student the skills to learn whatever they want to learn... whether it is in the teacher's subject area or not. For example... teaching the students the study skills, memorization techniques, practice techniques, organizational skills, etc. that it takes to get them where they want to go in life.
