Possibly something to do with a French class, may have "gum stick bomb," field trip to France or something...help please!

It was "If Looks Could Kill" made in 1991 with Richard Grieco as high school student Michael Corben who gets mistaken as a secret agent...
There is more than one movie with this title so be sure it has Grieco in it.
I believe someone tried to cash in on his 21 Jumpstreet fame like with Johnny Depp...but although Grieco is a good looking actor with good acting skills, I just don't think he has the depth that Depp has.

It sounds like "If Looks Could Kill" (with Richard Greico?). I loved that movie when I was little.
