20 weeks is considered the "age of viability" Supposedly, it's possible for the baby to survive if born after this point. If you "miscarry" after 20 weeks, it's called a stillbirth. Anything before 20 weeks is called a spontaneous abortion aka miscarriage. And no, if the woman "miscarries" at 5 1/2 months pregnant it is not possible for the baby to survive because the baby is no longer alive when you miscarry.

I had a natural miscarriage, and got pregnant about 7 months afterward. We tried for a couple of months with no success. I think everyone who has a miscarriage is worried about the next time, but my daughter was born happy and healthy. I didn't realized, until it happened to me, how many first pregnancies end in miscarriage. It is more common than you might think. Try not to stress yourself out as much as possible, and take care of yourself. I wish you and your baby the best of luck.

Yes, a woman can have a miscarriage at any point during the pregnancy. A baby has been known to survive after twenty six weeks, but five and a half months is only twenty two weeks, so the odds are not good.

Yes it happened to a friend of mine. Usually miscarriages are due to some abnormality in the pregnancy which makes the likelihood of the baby's survival minimum.

Miscarriage means loosing your baby so no it wont survive. Yes, woman at 5 month can still miscarry but instead of it happening in form of a lot of bloodloss the baby will die in the uterus the mother actually has to give birth to her dead baby.. doctors will induce labor. Happened to my SIL

You can miscarriage at any point as a child could pass on any time in-utero. Later on during pregnancy doctors often have to perform a D&C or induce labour and the mother gives birth to a still born.

If the baby dies in the womb then no it can not survive. Otherwise generally they will not try to keep a baby alive unless it is 24 weeks and even then the odds aren't good.

It is possible but a baby can survive outside the womb at 22 wks (I think...It's around 20 wks I know that). Unfortunately it isn't 100% that they will survive but there is a chance.

practically yes, only it is not called a miscarriage, but stillbirth. That is when the fetus dies in the uterus. Babies born after 23 weeks can survive if born prematurily.
