I agree with evil twin about the pool. A little moneyon the table can do wonders. I'll make a little list of things you may consider.
Entertainment:
-Football (Anything that you can throw and looks remotely like a football)
-That's it, the point of the party is to watch the superbowl.
Theme:
-You can buy NFL liscenced products such as mugs and banners but anything with an NFL LIscence'll be overpriced.
*If you want to have a bit of a theme you could just buy the miniature collectible helmets of the competing teams and place em on the tv. Or you could just go crazy and hang posters everywhere.
Food:
-Chips (Tortillas, Ruffles, Cheetos, etc)
-Dip (Anything from salsa to french onion)
-Barbeque (Hot dogs, burgers, ribs, anything you can mass produce in your grill)
-Sodas
-Pizza (This is if you're too lazy)
*The point is to have food that is easy to make in quantity, and easy to eat. Pretty much anything you can pick up with your hands
Hope this helps. When we watch important football games, we juust have a bunch of food and drinks and we end up having a great time.
P.S. Do not leave around any items you cherish or value. Keep clear of pens, pencils, and any other sharp objects. Football's an emotional sport and someone might freak if their team loses. I remmeber after the Niners/Raiders game, I stabbed the carpet with a pen and the stain's been there ever since.

Its very common to mastrudle with those towels, its the next best thing to sleeping with an actual player. And brings good luck for the team. If your friends towels don't have juicy stains on theirs question their loyalty!

Get some superbowl themed accesories like plates, cups and the like. Have a football shaped chocolate cake. Play flag football at halftime. Have a pool for best commercial.

A football pool gets everybody interested in the game. Make a 10 by 10 grid on a paper and sell squares to everyone who wants in for $1 each (or more or less) then randomly put the digits 1 to 10 on each side, one side for each team. Then award 25% of the pool for each quarter based on the last digit of the score for each team. Lots of fun!

I think make some chill and some sacks. You can have a cake made like a football or field.
