i'm sitting next to a moron that says there's a song out there that says something to the effect of: "I killed your baby today." or some crap like that. Is this a metallica song you've heard? I thought I had heard just about every song by metallica.

Last Caress is a song that Metallica covered for the 1987 $5:98 Garage Days revisited EP which was originally recorded by The Misfits. It is not a Metallica but yes one of the lines is:
I got something to say
I killed a little baby today.

I do not know, ive never thought of metallica as much of a band that did do that. However if they said i killed your baby today (which i dont know why, for some reason seems familiar) i could bet it was metaphorical, or had a much deeper meaning to it than "I kill babies cause im insane and its good".
Also, like the guy above me said, in "So What" the lyrics were just plain dumb, where he talks about sex with children, animals killing and just being insane.
The song "Lost Caress\Green Hell" From garage days does say things like: "Ive got something to say, I raped your mother today" and twice "Ive got something to say, I Killed your baby today"
However if you listen to the rest of the lyrics it shows that its not saying lets kill babies, its deeper.

No, but some actual murderers in Arkansas who did kill some babies blamed Metallica's music for their crimes.
This famous case is the Robinhood murder case. A documentary about it was made, check link. Metallica is a band of talented musicians who do not advocate the murder of anyone.

Not as far as i know, and i have been listening to them since the early 80's.....its probably something more likely to be, Pantera or Iron Maiden or something like that.
