All depends on the kind of lizard you have. Some lizards require high heat and UVB while others require only warmth and no UVB. I have a leopard gecko whom has an undertank heater and a small basking bulb and doesnt require a UVB but I also have a Bearded dragon who has multiple heat lamps and also an under tank heater and a costly UVB setup. It all depends on the kind of environment and temperature needs that fit your specific lizard. I know petsmart has some awesome info on there website about tons of different lizards and there needs so maybe check out there web page. Good luck!

What you should get depends on the type of lizard(s) you have and the cage/tank dimensions.
Some lizards require UVB, and at different amounts. Others require none. UVB is generally produced by fluorescent bulbs, which do not produce heat. If you want both from the same light you'll need a mercury vapor bulb, which start out at 160 watts and about $31. If you're talking a small tank, this could cook your lizard.
I like the red heat lamps or ceramic heat emitters myself. These do not produce any visible light to the lizard, so they can be left on overnight if the lizard needs nighttime warmth. But then you need a second fixture for visible light so it gets a day/night cycle.
Since you don't specify the type of lizard(s) you have, you can look up the requirements at the following websites:

Here's a site where you can see the types of products available/cost:

As far as why I asked about the dimensions of your tank/cage, any light/heat source will produce different amounts of heat to your animals if the tank is 12" or if it's 24" (unless they climb up and sit under the bulb). Any good pet store should be able to recommend an appropriate wattage so your animals get the proper amount of heat they need.

I think that would depend on the type of lizard you are talking about. Does your lizard need UVB? If so, then if you want to get heat and UVB out of just one bulb it's gonna have to be an MVB (mercury vapor bulb) That is the only bulb that does both is the MVB, otherwise you will need a basking (heat)bulb and a UVB seperately.

don't use a regular household bulb.. they don't generate the right kind of light... visit your local pet store and they will help you with what wattage and types of lights depending on tank size and reptile species
