If you are looking at a strict photography school then grades are not important. Most schools have general classes in photography and more studio courses. You want to be in the studio. you need to have a portfolio of the work you have done, the teachers will judge to see if you belong in the studio.

Generally your portfolio matters most of all, even your art grades are secondary to a good portfolio. Go to a portfolio day at the schools you are interested in and see what the competition is like, meet faculty and start to expose yourself to others and talk (seriously and professionally) about your work. The practice will make you more comfortable, confident and clearer about your work. It will also give you an opportunity to work out any final kinks you may or may not have in your grades or portfolio

you need lots of money a good portfolio and reasonable grades so they know that you are not a loser. Look up Brooks Insstitue of Photog and shudder at the price.

you should have decent grades and samples of your artwork that you've collected (a portfolio).
