Ireland has fewer animal and plant species than either Britain or mainland Europe because it became an island very soon after the end of the last Ice Age, about 8,000 years ago. Nevertheless, it is home to hundreds of plant species, some of them unique to the island. Many different habitat types are found in Ireland, including farmland, open woodland, temperate forests, conifer plantations, peat bogs, and various coastal habitats. Awwww, the Emerald Isle, the old sod, Ireland.
Ireland is a country of contradictions, along with a history of struggles against England, and lesser known enemies.
If you look at Ireland's history, you will find a struggle against the Romans (they wanted to add Ireland to it's list of conquered
nations) Ireland's strong disagreements with England and the Church of England, and lest we forget it's wrestling match with
the country of Scotland, another neighboring country like Ireland,
who were populated by the Celts, a race of people who are a
combination of the old norse or Vikings, a few Moors, and the
Normans, who were a part of the ethnic mix.
It might also be noted that Irish nationals have antecedants
dating as far back as 9,000 years ago, people who migrated from
the last meltdown of the the last ice age, and many of those
tribes left their DNA to be absorbed by the on- going generations.
Some of the more notable dates to recognize, the great famine
of the 1840s, seriously depleted the Irish in population, but migrated where they could to other countries, many to the United States, the oppresion of the British Crowns, over the years, and
most Irish are Catholic in their religious beliefs, Great Britain
wanted them all to be members of the Church of England (Anglican) so there were many confrontations in armed conflict
as a result.
Today, Ireland enjoys a big tourism trade, their home commerce
division is enjoying a plethora of business opportunities, their
real estate, though pricy, is also getting its share of interested buyers, their manufacturers of specialized materials are also going great output.(Waterford crystal, for example)
Their commercial fishing and agricultural trade has vastly improved.
It would be fair to say that in all their business and economic
fronts, they are going full speed.
Your question was what I like most about Ireland?
Well, an Irishman is both a wild eyed drinker in the pub, a sweet
talker to his lady, and one hell of a street fighter if provoked,
and loves to tell jokes, in between, but don't laugh at them to hard, he can detect insincerity.
The Irish have contributed well to their part of civilization, but
sometimes they can get temperamental, and lash out if they feel the necessity.
Thats my message, good luck.

I love that we are so laid back if we anymore relaxed we'd be on the floor.
Saying that some other posters aren't obviously Irish, i.e. it is spelt guinness and lucky charms cereal isn't sold in Ireland, it was for a period of three months but it bombed. We are however the largest consumers per head of corn flakes in the world.

It is a great place to live. We work to live and not live to work. People are easy going, and the way of life is better. Scenery is unique and magnificent. Even though the weather is not the best, we make the most of things. The cost of living has gone up but that doesn't stop us enjoying ourselves..
If you want to experience it, come over here for yourself for the craic. See what you think..
