A full-ride scholarship pays for your tuition and fees and books. Everything else - namely room and board - are paid out of your pocket. (Some of the time anyway. This may also be covered. It all depends on the university or college you attend.)
You will quickly learn that nothing in college is free. If you have a full-ride, consider yourself blessed.
Save your pennies though if you are going any place cold. There is ice in the SWOSU parking lot right now. I witnessed an accident earlier when a truck slid on the ice. It smacked into a parked car.

I played in Junior College and didn't when I went to the University. I now regret it. I would have met some really nice people and I may have been signed somewhere. I just wanted to get school out of the way. So, consider the time you have to put into it. Being a student athlete is very demanding but could be rewarding. I say go for it. You could quit anytime and focus more on the books later.

A full ride means all of your school is paid for this includes books, dorm room, tuition, etc... therefore you do not need any loans. You may still take out loans if you wish to though. You get free transportation to and from games. Most importantly you get a lot of self discipline, learn to work hard, and how to be part of a team. I am a former college athlete. In come cases you get partial rides, and this will only include a certain percentage of your total school cost.

You get some things like free books, a good class schedule, easy classes, meals. Some of it is under-the-table stuff – payments, women, drugs. The University of Colorado had a special slush fund that involved escort services and a liquor store. Depends on what you do, and what college you go to.

All you can get is a scholarship. You are not allowed to take any thing for free not even a stick of gum. If you play football you are not even allowed to work.
