I am knitting a Wendy Sunbeam Paris Mohair pattern (sweater) and do not understand the following instruction: Ïnc. 1 st. at beg. of next row and at same edge on next 3 rows, then on following 7 alt. rows, then on 2 following 4th rows." This is supposed to increase my stitches from 3 to 16. Can anyone tell me what I am supposed to do?

It sounds to me like you increase 1 stitch at the begining of the first four rows, then one stitch on row 12, one on row 18, one on row 24, one on row 30, one on row 36, one on row 40, one on row 46, and one on row 42. Then increase one on row 46 and one on row 52. This will give you 16 stitches, Is the piece you are working on a collar?

It sounds like there is an increase on only one side of the piece your knitting? Is there a diagram in the pattern that shows that? If not, there may be an error in the pattern.
