I am just recovering from knee surgery and have problems with swelling, myself. The best over-the-counter drugs to take are the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAIDs, like Naproxen or ibuprofen, and take them regularly, whether you "think" you're swelling right now or not. Also, lots of ice helps - like the advice above that says 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off (you don't want to get frostbite!). In fact, the whole "RICE" thing is helpful - Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. Invest in a good pair of support hose. They're not terribly attractive, but they do help with the compression more than an elastic bandage because if you just wrap the knee, it tends to push the swelling down to the foot. A stocking, like TET brand hose (or check with a medical supply place for other brands) will compress the whole leg and push the extra fluid up and out of the leg. Then, if she can keep her leg elevated by putting her feet up as much as possible, it will help keep the fluid from pooling in her leg, too. These tips might help keep her more comfortable until she can get in to see a doctor. Hope this helps - good luck!

I could say do not get too concerned. We can all too comfortably get stuck up with the issues of our enormous others. Ultimately she will have got to make the alternative to receive herself, it could additionally simply be hormonal. You will also be there while you wish to be, check out to not grow to be her therapist however concentrate while you'll lend an ear. Getting to concerned with looking to "repair her" could motive you plenty of frustration and feeling helpless. Maybe she'll style via the whole lot while she's competent. We generally tend to deliver those matters extra existence and awareness then they deserve, have you ever attempted simply doing whatever to take her brain off of her issues instead than speakme it out at all times, the latter will also be emotionally draining and normally individuals simply have to occupy their minds.
