As long as your keep the solids from entering the sand mound, there is no problems with this type of septic system. Have your main tank pumped out every 5 years.

I don't know how many problems they have with the exception that if the power goes out they don't work, but I do know that lots of ppl plant tallish plants around them or at least on the side of the mound they can see. I personally don't think they are that huge of an eyesore....once the grass grows back it's just a hill in your yard.

they are the only way you can put in a septic system in some locations so you dont have a choice. they dont look that bad , but with some minor landscaping you cant tell them from a natural mound. drawback is they usually cost more then a regular system
