I'm not religious but I was wondering why no one has made a movie about Mohammed the prophet. It seems like he was a pretty interesting fellow. The world is a different place because of him and his teachings. I'm astounded that we don't know anything about him really unless we were raided in that culture. I even tried to buy a book about him at a major bookseller and had trouble finding a complete and detailed book about his life. Even if we weren't raised in that culture or religion, shouldn't we know more about him and his life.

Great question!
I think because it is strictly forbidden to "portray" him in any form. His life is in the Qu'ran that's it.

Two reasons...and I'm probably going to get flamed for this big time...
1) Hollywood is largely run by Jews...'nuf said I don't think we'll be seeing Mohamed anytime soon.
2) Muslims have a prohibition on making any sort of image of the prophet - a movie would give them another reason (like they need it) to hate the West.

Images of the Prophet Mohammed are forbidden.

The best tribute to his influence is being named #1 on the list of "Most Influential" people in history, based on the fact he was both a successful military leader and spiritual leader, which no other historical figure can claim.

Unfortunately, because Mohammed's military instructions have been taken out of context and mistaken for religious tenets, this has created much political conflict confused with the true Islamic beliefs which are peaceful.

Because Hollywood's concept of political correctness is primitive -- this is why they deem themes that has non-christian elements as unacceptable. And besides, Islam (in their opinion) doesn't sell.. By the way, my father was a Muslim and my mother is Catholic so I'm not taking sides here...

Because if they made a movie that showed the likeness of the Prophet they would be the immediate target of a fatwa....

As crazy as many Muslim,s are today it would certainly lead to at the very least death threats to anyone involved with the movie if not some actual deaths.
