It's respectful to take them off. So, no...men shouldn't be allowed to wear hats in church.

If women can wear their huge hats in church and not take them off, why not let a man wear his? Women are always yelling about equal rights, from the answers, here women want it both ways.

The tradition to remove hats in church goes back as far as church itself......it's a matter of respect for those in worship and for the representation of what that church is. The same goes for removing hats during the National Anthem or a funeral precession......it's the same. Maybe it would be easier if you thought of it the same way as the "gentleman" of old used to tip their hats to ladies when in passing or introduction. It is a way to show that although the man may be showing his dominance in all other aspects, he tips his hat to show he recognizes and respects the other person.....does that help?
Removing a hat represents respect....simple as that.

It's my personal belief that men should have to remove hats in church buildings. But....not everybody believes the same thing.
