How true! Either that or whenever you get a vanilla milk shake it always tastes like chocolate or strawberry.
I think in addition to problems with employees not cleaning machinery properly, you have moving parts AND refridgeration. Something is bound to go wrong.

I don't go to McDonalds often, and when I do I hardly ever order a shake. But last time I ordered a chocolate banana shake, and the machine was working.

Best way not to have to make them, they have to keep that line moving and the milkshake machine slows them down.

There could be many causes, such as improper cleaning, shortage of supplies, a breakage in the machine....It happens with alot of ice-cream machines because they always need to be maintained and with some restaurants it may be hard to do because of a shortage of employees of something of the sort....hope this helps..;)

So true! I can never get a shake at McDonald's. I can't believe that so many McDonald's have the same problem. They just need to take it out and stop advertising it!

Either they have it down and are cleaning it (which should be every week, not every other week), it's put together wrong (when it is cleaned, every peice comes out, and there are lots of really little pieces and if just one is missing, it won't work) or it's in Heat Mode, which is when it shuts itself off to heat up the mix inside to reduce bacteria.

cus the 3, 15 year olds they have running the place keep sticking their fingers in the machine, and the board of health finds the remains of fingers and shuts it down.
