The only place in the world called Palestine today is in Texas.
"The fact is that today's Palestinians are immigrants from the surrounding nations! I grew up well knowing the history and origins of today's Palestinians as being from Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Christians from Greece, Muslim Sherkas from Russia, Muslims from Bosnia, and the Jordanians next door. The civil and tribal wars between Yemenites (from Yemen) and Kessites (from Banu Kais of Saudi Arabia) ... are well known among Palestinians.
"My grandfather, who was a dignitary in Bethlehem, almost lost his life by Abdul Qader Al-Husseni (the leader of the Palestinian revolution) after being accused of selling land to Jews. He used to tell us that his village Beit Sahur (The Shepherds Fields) in Bethlehem County was empty before his father settled in the area with six other families. The town has now grown to 30,000 inhabitants."
- Walid, a Palestinian Arab defector, talking about the recent immigration of Arabs to Palestine. quoted from "Answering Islam"

I read questions and answers like this one and think the Iranian leader's proganda has really started hitting people. The land was not seized from Palestinians. Yes, there are biblical ties (and some say right) of Jews to the land, but the land (like a lot of land at the time) belonged to the British. It was called Palestine and more Arabs lived there then Jews b/c arabs generally greatly outnumber jews. The wheels of formally creating a Jewish state were in motion long before WW II even started, and of course the Holocaust gave it a major pus forward. But remember, the jewish people at the time paid for what was virtually desert land, and have worked hard to make it flourish. Many of the Palestinians that were "displaced" were gone before 1948. Others were paid to relocate and accepted the money voluntairly. All that being said, I think Americans have gained a lot by having an important ally in the region that supplies one of this country's life lines - oil. Most moderate Arab countries recognize and work with Israel. Only the extreme fundamentalists (many of whom are linked to terrorism) want Israel destroyed and the questions of "land seized from Palestinians" in my opinion is another tactic to fan the flames.

Israel did not seize the land away until the Palestinians saw their success and numbers grow and began enacting laws against Jews. Since the Jews brought most of the development and wealth to that part of the desert they had a right to defend themselves and their property. They still let peaceful Palestinians come and work in Israel and pay them a good wage even though there are risks that they may be bringing bombs with them. They still want to coexist peacefully and all of the Palestinians would have much more wealth and property than they ever had before the Israelis came. But that probably won't happen because they want to be in control. And you can see what happens to the millions of dollars in aid that other countries are giving the Palestinians. Instead of building schools and hospitals they are buying mortars and rockets to shoot at Israel.

The Israeli colonist ought to realized that their life is depending on the life's of the close by community of Palestine.

Well, if you are so against stealing land from the little people, can I assume you will give your house and property to Indians?. They were there first after all. Practice what you preach.

Precisely. The Palestinians have suffered unnecessarily, and brutally, at the hands of the Israelis. There is simply no justification for the inhumane treatment they are being subjected to.
Now, for all those who are saying that the land belongs to the Israelites; the Jews claim they were promised the land of Canaan... and WHY was it called Canaan?
Because the Canaanites were living there, as were the multiple tribes and groups of people that descended from them.
And guess who are descendants of the Canaanites?
The Palestinians.

No. It should have been a communal govt and country. Not displacing one and letting others live there.Imperalism and colonialism always has caused problems.

If you;re going to go down that route, then you might as well say that it was the Israelis' land first. (It was)
