It's only compatible with Cingular and is planned to be released in June 2007 in the U.S. Q4 2007 in Europe and 2008 in Asia.

I work in the cell phone industry, and from my experience, I think that it will be quite some time before it will be released to other carriers. AT&T currently has exclusive rights to the IPhone which of course means that Apple can not produce the phone for an other carriers until the contract ends. I do think that when it the iphone is finally released to other carriers, A CDMA version will be available to accomodate Verizon. It will then trickle down to smaller CDMA carriers like ALLTEL.
