It makes my day when a guy opens the door for me and smiles. I feel good about it, it does make you feel special when a man pays attention to what is around him. Like, when he offers you his seat on a crowed bus/train, or waves you through to the counter to pay for your items, even if, technically, he was there first. I have noticed that it is a rare young man that will do this. The older men are really gentlemen. I thank every one of you who have shown a woman a small courtesy like this.

Actually, everyone should open doors for anyone when manners dictates. If you are first to reach the door you may open the door and move back to let someone else though or go through and hold the door for the next person. As for him jumping out of the car, then running around to open her door?... no. It's nice of him but not really done anymore, imo. As for a woman, standing in front of a door, waiting for him to run up and open it for her?... very annoying and completely unnecessary.

Whoever gets to the door first should open it. As well as holding a door for someone else. It's a courtesy I think and not lame or old fashioned.

I like old-fashioned. Opening doors show that they have manners.

You don't see much of it these days, there is one or two you will notice on the street who won't open a door for a lady, or won't offer their seat on public transport for a elderly lady, pregnant lady or any lady.
It's good to see men on P&S say it should still happen.
Thumbs up to all of them!
