I was on the depo shot for 3 years and once i stopped taking it i became pregnant 11 months later.
Depo-Provera is not a good choice if you want to be pregnant in the next year or two. Why? Because it typically takes 9 to 10 months to become pregnant after you stop taking Depo-Provera as a contraceptive. It could even take up to 24 months after discontinuing use of Depo-Provera for you to become pregnant. The length of time you use Depo-Provera has no effect on how long it takes you to become pregnant.

I had 2 shots of Depo the last one should have worn off in August 06. I have not had a period since. I was not informed of the problems conceiving after Depo but am very aware now!! I have done a lot of searching for other peoples experiences and honestly they all vary. It's all very different but one thing that they have in common is that the majority of people have or are experiencing difficulty in conceiving. I am going to continue ttc for the next 6 months and if still no sign of a period or no luck I am going to seek medical assistance and explore other options available to me. Goodluck.

Yes there is very much hope. I do know someone who desperatly tried to have a baby and went through the entire Invertero process several times and many thousands of $$, as you know. Their insurance then made a change and the new insurance would not allow another attempt with out artificial insemination by husband doner first. This had been done many times previous. The lady went in to clicic to follow up with the process and she was supposed to wait 30 min- she states, " I have done this many times in the past and it won't work- i am on my lunch hour and going back to work." She left the office right after they did the implantation. Lo and behold, she got pregnant the simplest way without expecting it at all. She has many friends who have gone through the procedure and most have become pregnant. Do not give up hope... but also don't allow it to consume the strength of your marriage by being overly obsessed. It is your partner you married and it is your partner who still deserves first priority in you marriage. Best wishes...very sincerely.

I got my first shot in December 05 and it only lasted for 3 months then it ran out. I didnt go back and get another one. But in Jan i got my period and it lasted about 3 weeks. Then I went the entire year of 06 without one until this past Nov. i got my 2nd one and it also lasted for 3 weeks. No period since Nov. But i have been having symptoms of pregnancy and i took 5 tests over a two day period and all tests came up postiive and im having a couple symptoms of pregnancy. I have a doctors apt. on Thursday to find out for sure. That was my question to, can you get pregnant if your periods are not regular? I have heard both things. That you can as long as you ovulate and the doctors told me that u can still ovulate if your not getting your period. So its best not to listen to anyone and ask someone who is a professional. you will only get confused and frustrated if your trying! Good luck!

Um, I wouldn't hold out for too much. I had Depo several years ago and it f**cked up my system real bad.
I was told, too late, that I should never have been prescribed Depo as a contraceptive. It's too dangerous to use as a contraceptive. I was never told what it should be used for, but it was not good what it did to me.
I didn't start my menstrual cycle until about 18 months after I had the last injection. I bled heavily for about three months, and when I told the doctor, he said it was just a side effect and not to worry. But I was worried, so I went to another doctor and was told I should never have had it in the first place. So please be careful.

It seems to be very common that people who have been on depo take longer to conceive, immediately after going off of it. Unfortunately you'll just have to be patient.
