i want to take this vid. off a CD to put on my laptop. ...its a home video, so i dont think its illegal...yeah....

I am not sure about the legal issue. Is it only for you? Are you going to do anything other than watch it? If it's only for yourself, I don't think Big Brother is going to get you for it.
If you just want to copy it onto your hard drive, then go to your file manager and select all the files on your CD and move them into a folder in C:.
If you are having problems backing it up onto another CD, you can try some shareware or freeware to help you.

Open Windows Explorer. Navigate to the CD/DVD drive. Right-click on the file name. Select COPY. Navigate to your hard drive. I'm assuming it is C:\. Navigate to the folder you want to put it in. Right-click on any white space
