Happiness comes from with-in your self. It is not something someone can give you or take from you. Only you are responsible for your happiness. Look with-in for your happiness. This is why you are looking in the wrong places. It is not somewhere for you to find. It is your responsibility to allow yourself to be sad or happy.

First thing , many of are not clear as to what is "happiness".Like many of us donot know who or what is God. We have some pictures of God ( created by men) and we will be looking for that God. Even if the "real" God passs by we will not be able to recognise HIm/Her/It.

Secondly , we will know a place as a wrong one ONLY after we reach that pace. It is like the proverbial Hide & seek. . If the first thing is clear then the second action will be more fruitful.

In the eastern Philosophy we are told that we are , as individuals , steeped in ignorance , cannot find these ourselves. Hence we would need the help of a trained teacher ( guru) . But , in these days of Self Help and Do-It-Yourself , we are constantly trying ourselves. hence we will be searching for the elusive happiness all the time.

Physically, it's because society tells you one thing, yet you're hardwired mentally and genetically for something much different subconsciously. As far as all other stimuli, you search for happiness in all of the wrong places due to impatience. You want it now, and that impatience causes you to take the short, quick, and cheap route to happiness instead of the longer, but more fulfilling way to real happiness.

We search for happiness only in the places we are comfortable and familiar with. We think we know what we want but we are subordinates to our knowledge, upbringing, and environment. Go look somewhere you aren't familiar with.

All the wrong places? Well, that's just a variable isn't it? No one can answer this question without knowing what you mean by wrong....

Because we try to find happiness outside of ourselves. Happiness can only be created within.
Let me emphasize the last sentence. Happiness is not found, it is CREATED.

If we knew where the "right" places were, we wouldn't have to look in the "wrong" ones.
