Someone just bought a PS3 from me but I'm not exactly sure if they've paid me or not. I got an e-mail from Paypal stating that the person paid me, but when I log into my account, I have a balance of $0. I understand that the money is supposed to get credited until I actually ship it - but I don't see any credit information either. How can I know for sure if it has been shipped or if that e-mail from Paypal is fake? (The links in the e-mail were legitimate, but there were some gramatical mistakes towards the end).

Thanks everyone - it turned out to be a fraud. What's funny is that I put the PS3 on ebay again and got another joker trying to convince me to ship it to Africa (this guy bid $3000+).

I sell things on eBay often, so I can help you with the question. You can check to see if someone has paid you in two different ways. You can ether check your eBay account or you can check your Paypal account. I will first tell you how to check if they paid you, using your eBay account. Log onto your eBay account with your name and password. Then click the My eBay tab. Then scroll down until you fnd the item you sold. To the right you will see a shopping cart. The cart should be high lighted blue. Next two the shopping cart, their is a money sign. If the transaction is completed, then the money sign will be high lighted blue. If its grayed out, then the transaction is not completed. If you put your mouse over the money icon, then it will say "the item has been paid for through Paypal. Now I will tell you how to tell if your account has been credited through your Paypal account. Log on to your Paypal account. Their is a box that says recent activity. Click all activity. Change the within box to past week or month depending on when they paid you. Now you will have a record of who paid you and purchases you made through paypal. If you click details, then you can see what item you sold, and the persons name and address. If the person sent an echeck, then you will have to wait 2-3 days before the echeck clears. It will say that payment is pending. Do not send item, until the echeck clears. Usually when the person pays on Paypal, you recieve payment right away. The status then should say completed and then you will see a change in your account balance. The email you got might have not of been from Paypal, it may have been fake. I hope this has helped you.

First you need to change you Paypal password immediately. Always go directly to Paypal to check anything. NEVER click on a link in an email no matter how real it looks.

I don't understand why you wouldn't receive money until after you shipped. I would not do that. If a payment is outstanding in Paypal it should still list it and tell you a clear date.

I would reword my pass word, and change my question, right NOW.
I once fell for the yahoo spoof, it had the yellow lock on the bottom and on the top. I don't know why firefox, said it was real(it was a fake) I changed my yahoo passward right after, like 5 sec. I Called my credit card company to make sure. I was lucky, I caught it in time.

Oh-Oh, you may have been spoofed, girl.

Paypal NEVER has any grammatical mistakes.

Hopefully you logged into Paypal through your favorite bookmarks, or by typing in the URL. Hopefully you DID NOT use the link provided in the email.

Why not try contacting the buyer to see what has happened? Usually you have the buyer email address, or mailing address ( otherwise you couldn't send it to him/her )

Paypal doesn't have grammatical mistakes. I'd log in separately from any link provided... directly type in www.paypal.com and see what your balance says. If it doesn't have a pending sale... then it's bogus. DO NOT send until you are completely sure you have the money!

FIRST - do YOU have a paypal account? If not you need to get one. If you do have one and your account was not verified, it will not work properly sometimes, as your banque account info must be VERIFIED. Then all you do is check you paypal account and transfer the money to your banque account.

Check with Paypal, they would be able to find out if the payment went through and what your options are.
