No, I don't think that "National Parks" Per say, would be a physical characteristic. Having lots of trees, foliage, etc. would be a characteristic, being hilly, flat, mountainous, having desert, wet lands, rivers, valleys, oceans, etc. would be physical characteristics. A National Park is a location, not a physical characteristic..

The physical characteristics of a state would be things such as climate and geography. How's the weather? Are there any rivers and lakes? Mountains? Etc. National Parks are not physical characteristics.

Yes, parks both state and national, the general lay of the land, mountains (highest peaks) rivers, flat lands, lakes, major cities. Would be nice to add the general weather conditions for each of the seasons.
