There are probably some decent stand up comedy classes in your area. A decent class will go over things like creating and delivering material. Since I don't know what city or state you are in, I can't really suggest anything specific for you - you will need to use your own Yahoo! or Google skills for that.

Also, many stand-up clubs have an open microphone night where you can go and try out five minutes of material. It can be brutal, but it is a good way to see if something works or not.

Anybody can be funny but everybody is funny in their own way. If you can't find a class in your area, there are also some decent books you can consult with tons of advice, like 'The Comedy Bible.'

Good luck!

No place, man. You have to have it. If you do, go with yourself. Be spontaneous.
The most un-funny comedians are those that pretend to be something they're not, and are fake.
Be yourself. If you're funny (don't take your own word for it, take others that you can trust), you should fly pretty well.
But there is something to looking at other comedians and noting their comedic timing, their expressions, how they interact with the audience, etc. But mostly, figure out what your style is and fly with it.

But please, please, keep it clean. I'm sick of comedians that think that a couple f-bombs and overused sexual jokes make for a comedy routine.

I hope I helped. =)
