Im 14 and have been having my period for about 5 yrs. now. I get really painful cramps that usually keep me from going to school 2-3 days each month. I don't like to talk to my mom about my period because I always feel uncomfortable talking to her about it. She doesn't even know that I know what sex is.

you need to talk to her about it. if your cramps are bad enough to keep you from going to school for 2-3 days, you need to see a doctor. more than likely they will put you on the pill. it really helps cut down your cramps and can make your periods shorter too.

Doll, your period has nothing to do with sex. My best friend in school did the same thing and she was a virgin. I dont have cramps but she always did and would go to the doctor each month when she got her period and they would give her something that would ease the pain. Just tell your mother that you cramp really bad when you have your periods and would like to go to the doctor. Some other things you could try is Pamprin, its over the counter, Or ibuprofen, tylenol maybe.

I have found that over the years the only person that should have been answering my questions was .....my mother! I always felt uncomfortable talking to her about stuff but I grew out of it and we talk about everything now. You should talk to her about it because if you need to see a doctor to do something to ease the pain she should know. I used to miss school and work because of cramps also, so I would suggest taking Midol and using a heating pad or a heat wrap on your back and I used to warm up a wet washcloth in the microwave and put it in a ziplock bag and put it on your lower stomach. Also they have heat wraps for your abdomen at drug stores and wal-mart. They can get expensive but I didn't mind paying for them because they really helped and made me less miserable.

When I was 12 or 13 I use to have really bad cramps to where I couldn't go to school and every thing I ate I would vomit it was to the point that my cramps would wake me up, and I told my mom and she made me a dr. appt. they did put me on birth control pills but they didn't work every ones body is different. All the health concerns that people have now a days like hpv, thyroids, fibroid, ovarian cyst & cancer, I think you should tell your mom and go to the dr. before your next period and tell him/her every thing that goes on during your menstral don't put it off.Another thing never feel uncomfortable talking to your mom about things because she is the only person that will listen to and love you I have a daughter also and I always try to keep the communication open between her and I and she knows that I will never tell or do anything to hurt her.
Good Luck and feel better!!

find an herb shop get blue cohosh make a tea and drink twice a day. this is good for pregnant wemen also helps to clean out the bad stuff and have a less painfull experiance giveing birth. you could also try to talk to youre school nurce, and realy wouldent hurt to consult a gynocholidgest pain speaks to us tells us that we need to do something differantly or that we need something. and realy you need to put pride aside and comunicate with mom.she went threw it and may know exactly what to do to best help you in this situation.besides if she does youre laundery she probbly knows anyways.and if i had a doughter youre age i would expect such a thing to ocure do you realy think that she dont? this is a normal part of life, and mom is thare to help you threw it not to judge or chritisize you for something that you cannot help. so may god bless dear old mom. p.s. if this started at age 9 you started sort of early you could be in more danger then you realise so please see mom and a doctor.

exercise and be active. when i was 14 i would just lay around and be in pain, but if you exercise and participate in a physical sport or activity, or even if you just walk or jog a little it should help. It helped me, but then again I was also on the dance team so i had pain and cramps in other places too :):) you can also try applying heat to the area that is cramping and in pain. they have the thermacare heat pads at walmart and pharmacies that work fairly well.

Use a heating pad, a warm bath and pamprin should help. Talk to a doctor and your mother. You might need a D&C procedure from the doctor or a birth control will lighten your periods.

Heating pad, alleve, Tylenol or midol, which ever one works for you. But talk to your mother because I know of a few young ladies that needed medication to help with their painful cramps.

go see about the contraceptive pill, it helps ease them both, i know its not for the sex part i went on it at 12 for my cramps and a heavy flow. Also panadol, hot showers and baths adn heating pads. If it continues go to a health clinic and see if they can give you soemthign a bit stronger. Good luck

Two GREAT techniques that I recommend all the time are: 1) Get a heating pad or hot pack and place it on your lower abdomen. The heat from the pad will relax the muscles in there, and help reduce the cramping. This technique may even work better (and faster) than ibuprofen (Midol, Advil, etc.) You can also drink a hot beverage -- tea, coffee, cocoa, e.g. -- and that can help in the same sort of way. 2) Yoga! A lot of times, getting down on the floor and doing some stretching and relaxing can help as well. If neither of these things helps, then it's Midol time!
